Today I jogged (aka running and walking) 5.1K in 43:19.
It’s 1:08 on Tuesday morning. So yeah I’m up late. I have some low level allergies that messes with my head which messes with my sleep schedule. I’ve also been busy at work and life.
- I won something that I thought I’d lose. It’s always a pleasant surprise when you find out that you have underestimated your abilities. Or heck, pleasant surprise when you have just lucked out!
- I finally replaced my Nike + iPod. This made me happier than being the next contestant on the Price is Right.
- I am excited about seeing this movie: Summer House. Both Blake Rutherford and Jennybee liked it. Both of them like fancy pants movies. They saw it on the same day at the same theater. They may have even seen it at the same time. NO, as far as I know, they don’t know each other.

After the whole kittens in a box debacle, my brother was so depressed that he went to the shelter and rescued this kitten. She’s a stunningly beautiful little kitty.
She likes to climb on things, including me. If she had her way, she would sit on my chest right below my neck fifty percent of the time. The other 50 percent would be a split between eating and drinking, sitting on the window sill looking out the window, and sleeping on this one particular pillow on one of the beds in the house.
I call her Buddha because when she climbs up that high and turns around her butt is literally in my face. I have said on more than one occasion, “get your buddha butt out of my face.” (because really anything three inches from your eyeball looks HUGE! at that angle). So then I just started calling her Buddha butt all the time. It got shortened to Buddha and now I have her a theme song to the tune of the Oklahoma “boomer Sooner” song. Yeah I’m weird.
This editorial depressed the hell out of me.
My heroes for today are the members of the Rummel Hudson family: Julie, Rob, and Schuyler.
Schuyler was born with an extremely rare brain disease called Bilateral perisylvian polymicrogyria. This disorder means that. among other things, Schuyler will more than likely never be able to talk. She uses technology that has been dubbed “BIG Box of words” (it looks like a giant Speak n Spell) .
Despite all these disadvantages, Schuyler has managed to surprise her detractors over and over again. She has basic speech and a higher rating of intelligence than many doctors predicted. She has performed better in school than predicted.
She also manages to be an extremely cheerful child who loves monster movies and monsters in general. She also enjoys a punk rock wardrobe with chucks and brightly colored hair ranging from purple to red. She has an independent streak, evidenced in this her drawing a picture of her sad parents crying when she was to travel cross country on a plane to visit her grandma. SHe also has a funny sense of humor, making her dad dress up like a chicken for Halloween. (he did it too)
Her parents also have an amazingly positive attitude as they struggle to raise Schuyler to be the best she can be while learning the limits of her disability.
